We’re Back, and Bigger Than Ever!

October 13th, 2011 by wikkedforever

After having taken a recent hiatus, things are finally beginning to fall back into our favor this month. Getting our practice schedule back on track, some new gig opportunities in the works for the near future, and last but certainly not least, the addition of one new member, and possibly a second soon.

Everyone welcome David Earp to the fold as Wikked’s new drummer (Brandon’s not going anywhere except across the stage to try his hand at the bass). David comes to us by way of Buffalo Center, IA, and has put in a couple of years of experience behind the drum kit. He formerly lived in central Illinois, and moved here to create a better life — and within just the first day has shown the kind of passion and drive to succeed that has made the Wikked Nation what it is today. He’s definitely a welcome addition to the fold and will be bringing the thunder!

Stay tuned as we have another new member potentially in the works, and as we said, some new shows being worked out for the end of this year into 2012 which promises to, FINALLY, be the true Year of the Wikked! (For real this time. We promise!)

Till then, stay Wikked!

And why do we fall, Bruce?

September 15th, 2011 by wikkedforever

2011 hasn’t exactly been the “year of the Wikked,” eh? It’s been a tumultuous year for the three of us, full of highs (taking the stage with some awesomely talented bands for a couple of shows) and lows. Unfortunately, right now we’re hitting that low. Between schedules not lining up and some other issues we’ve each had to address this year, there just hasn’t been that Wikked flow like we’ve had in years past. The band is certainly not done for, but for the time being, we’re all just taking a little break to get our bearings, get our wheels under us, all those tired old cliches about getting things moving again. We’ll be back, stronger than ever, at some point. In the meantime, we continue to love and appreciate all of you for supporting us in this crazy world we’ve thrust ourselves into.

And why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.

Firstly, before anything else, we want to give a big thank you to Shane Miller and Astral Space for having us on their benefit show last month — it was a great experience, and good to see so many people coming together for two great causes – one, most importantly, to help raise money for Ashley. And two, to keep live music alive here in these sleepy small towns. There really is nothing like a live music event, especially when it’s small town bands with big dreams and deep messages making their voices heard.

To that end, we’re also announcing our next event – Saturday, July 2, Wikked once again invades the Osage City Park. It’s our annual tradition, and this year we’ve worked it to coincide with the big 3-day 4th of July weekend — and we’re not coming alone this time. Our buddy Nick Pilgrim will be opening up the show with a set of all new solo acoustic songs he’s been working on since the dissolution of his former band, Richard Nixon Roundhouse Attack / Slay the Shepherd. We’re also working to get another band or two on the bill to round out the day and give this a good solid all-day festival atmosphere.

Stay tuned, as we’ll be bringing you more information on the other bands playing and the exact times this will all get started. As always, Wikked Forever <> Forever F’n Wikked!

Goings-on in the World of the Wikked

March 8th, 2011 by wikkedforever

What’s up, Wikked fans?  Just wanted to give you a little heads up on where we stand in these cold-ass winter months and what’s coming down the road…

First of all, you all know that we’re coming up on nearly 3 years since the release of From Atrophy To Ecstasy, and consequently, nearly 3 years into the writing of Death Before Dishonor.  We began writing the first DBD songs back before FATE was recorded and released, and as of today, still aren’t quite finished with the entire album.  But, part of this is because once we started writing for this album, the ideas kept on flowing and flowing and flowing, and we soon found ourselves looking at DBD being a double-album with somewhere around 25 songs.  Now part of the problem is that today, we stand here with some songs having been complete and finished for nearly 3 years, and some songs that are still just a riff or a lyrical idea, whose time has not yet come due to lack of quality rehearsal time to really hammer the songs out, or due to the songs themselves just not coming along as quickly and easily as some others.
